Sketching the Portrait with Casey Baugh," is number one in a series of advanced Charcoal Demonstrations by American Artist Magazine competition winner, CASEY BAUGH.
There are almost no quality videos about drawing, and charcoal in particular, so this really is a must-see. Casey introduces the viewer to methods such as the "charcoal sock" which puffs charcoal dust on the page. This is what he uses to start the drawing, to keep it general and light. He then develops the center of interest, and works out from there. Casey uses methods such as sprinkling charcoal dust on the page, then spraying it with acetone. He also manipulates the image with a paintbrush dipped in acetone.

Casey Baugh was born in 1984 to Jerry and Angie Baugh in Lookout Mountain, Georgia. Baugh’s earliest art instruction came around the age of four from his father and aunt who were artists by hobby. This nurturing, along with Baugh’s early interest in art, gave him the strong foundation and motivation that would allow him to produce and sell professional work by the age of 13. At age 14, Baugh won his first regional competition and by age 17, he had won his first national competition. With no formal training, Baugh continued to educate himself by studying the work of other accomplished artists. In the spring of 2004, he conducted his first workshop at the Village Arts of Putney in Vermont.

Jon Chappell, former editor-in-chief of GUITAR MAGAZINE and sideman for Pat Benatar and Graham Nash, presents this instructional video that presents an easy and fulfilling method for learning to play the guitar. Using a step-by-step method that does not require the viewer to read music, Jon begins by showing how play in tune and in rhythm and moves on to teach how to form chords, fingerpick and strum in different patterns. Lastly, Jon demonstrates how to apply these techniques in actual songs, leading the viewer as he plays a number of popular favorites.

Vice Principal and Professor of Fine Art at Wimbledon School of Art Anita Taylor continues her exploration in tonal drawing, taking the viewer through key decisions such as positioning the model and sightlines.

This DVD is excellent and shows well put together footage on topics such as house training, getting your dog to enjoy and use a crate both for short term house breaking assistance and/or long term use to create an optional "den-like" atmosphere in the home. General house breaking tips, chewing, jumping, mouthing, manners, obediance and various other topics are included as well. The narration and information here is fabulous. There is a mild advertising lean to this DVD in that it offers products like the kong toy and others and offers the viewer to choose buttons giving product information but hoenstly- the products offered are truly ideal and just what a new dog owner might benefit from seeing.

The use for a set like is wide in scope, from Advertising to Film and Telivision through to games, this set can be used to create high and low polygon ship pieces that can be used in all forms of digital media. The Cutty Sark ship model holds up well in close up and distance shots to a very high resolution - its textures on the hull initially percieved as plain black are actually layers of texture starting as a wood with a black tar and gloss over the top that is only truly visible when the viewer gets a close up view of the ship.

A portrait is a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expression is predominant. The intent is to display the likeness, personality, and even the mood of the person. For this reason, in photography a portrait is generally not a snapshot, but a composed image of a person in a still position. A portrait often shows a person looking directly at the painter or photographer, in order to most successfully engage the subject with the viewer.

This film was an interesting twist on the robot as human concept, with a plot that managed to keep the viewer interested right up until the dramatic ending. A high tech company has specialized in mass producing surrogates, or personal robots, which are sold to the American middle class. They are quickly adopted to perform routine functions and then essentially perform high level functions (like one's job). The main theme was how the surrogates assumed people's lives and identities to such an extent the flesh & blood owner of the surrogate could stay home and presumably pursue higher level interests. The reality was most people simply fell into a spiritual stupor, resorting to alcohol or drugs to pass their time.
